I'm working on an addon at the users profile on site where you can enter your steam. Like we had before with Xfire.

You can now enter your steam in your user's profile.

It will be shown at your personal page, the memberslist and forum.

Unfortunately there are some issues with the steam browser protocol, which means that it doesn't automatically adds you as friend, but opens the user search page. Little more typing and clicking, but it works.

Just make it open "http://steamcommunity.com/id/"StringA" " and the input for string A could be your profile personal link so for me if my input would be:
Puppet_J

It'll open:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Puppet_J

Btw JT you cannot add people by profile name, because profile names can be the same. The only thing that can't be the same is the Personal Link

My goal is to add a friend automatically inside the steam program. I noticed that a steam ID 64 should be used in order to work with the steam browser protocol (steam://friends/add/

So only 1 number 7. This should be used indeed.

Unfortunately I dont have the knowledge how to translate your steam URL into an steam ID. I noticed a few other sites are able to do so.

Anyways, since puppet has the best solution for now, we go for his linking.

Honestly it's better to direct people to your steam profile, than to add them directly as friends. This to avoid annoyences with people getting friend spammed.
