yes it is an windows based error and its only when you connect to a server rest works fine he can just change his name change resolution and other stuff

he first tried 1200x1000 but that didnt work so he putted it back to standard but still doesnt work

Tell me, in which way is he trying to change the resolution? If you use custom resolution you put "r_mode -1" and you use "r_customheight" and "r_customwidth" to set the resolution. Try to set "r_mode" back to the default as well as "r_customheight" and "r_customwidth". You can see the default values when typing only the cvar without any variables.

Well i understand dutch.. And he didnt speak of a reinstall besides, when its a resolution error it'll wont start up. etconsole will give an openGL error. Or that's what i have experienced. This sounds like a window crash. And why windows crashes? god knows although i doubted if he does

Yes, resolution error gives you a openGL error but it may give you a windows error as well since it's related to your windows system.
But if he hasn't reinstalled it then it should be done. And precisely reinstall, not just delete the files and install again. Also tried to install in different hard drive than your OS is. And if using Vista or higher, always run ET with administrator rights.
he is running on xp with reinstall in mean we deleted every file of et and just downloaded agian but will try to but et in the other harddisk (my brother has 2) (but i got 3 so i am still better than my brother)

Hmm, this problem is weird indeed. Has he tried to update et for 2.6b for example or something. Its been so long time i played ET with xp that i cant remember why it used to crash altho i remember it did sometimes.
