Ya i remember my dad was always working and he also had me and my 2 bros at home but i never had any problems with that myself and i suppose he didnt have any problems doing that job either cause i think its bit different to men than women doing that kind of work when kids are home. But he was always home at christmas and newyearseve and -day and those kind of things which i actually remember from my childhood. 
But u are right its pretty much about also that who u work with. I know my dad had great group to work with as we (me and 6 or 7 polices, dunno for sure) drove all way from finland to Czech republic via estonia, latvia, lithuania and poland (yes i have been in poland and it is nice country afterall even there is ryo and mali ruining it :D) to watch motogp in prague. 
Im not sure how long it took to drive there but i remember we woke up 4.00 in finland so i guess it took like 1 and half day or something like that. Anyway my point was that i didnt got bored in that car sitting there whole that time (~36 hours!!!) and mostly because those polices knew how to talk kid like me. And ye i was 7 year old at that time i think.
Ok this went bit to offtopic of "what u do in summer" topic so i will also reveal my summer plans which are certificated 1st class security plans.
So i will probably have fun time outside doing all kind of sports like football, beachvolley, tennis and table tennis. Those i will do for sure a lot at my freetime but probably something else as well. :d
I will also "have a sauna" lot of times and swim like a dolphin (or walrus :D) at my cottage and probably also some fishing but i dont enjoy that much tho it is fun going couple of times in summer.
Then i have a dream to go abroad if i have enough money when i got my summerholidays at august but that i cant say for sure. :/
But yes besides all that fun im planning to do, i also work my ass off and hopefully i get work very much as i would really like to go abroad.
