But i bet the classic rock guys will disagree

Well no, not really. Trance/House can be nice aswell. Likewise; I don't like every single rock or old song that has been written. Only the good songs. So yes I like the good trance/house tracks aswell. But there is a difference between music and rubbish. Trance is way better than house in my opinion. And I'll clear out why. We take Animals by Martin Garrix as an example.

This track has a nice melody and a decent beat. It's building up to a climax, which is at 1:30. And what happens after 1:30 is in my view rubbish. That's where trance sticks to a lovely melody or comes up with a nice refrain. That period after 1:30 totally ruins it for me. At 2:00 the music restores.... but yet again it is building up for another part of shit sad
Another example to me is Tsunami. Where the crap starts at 1:15.

Trance for example as in Robert Miles' Children is really good.

Then we have some other genres which I want to point to, briefly;
- Happy Hardcore; this is the precursor to Hardcore and Hardstyle. These songs have a nice melody, and eventhough the beat is on the edge of Hardcore/style it still sticks to a decent melody. That makes it listenable.
- Hardstyle; these are modern track with somehow a nice melody in it. But just as it goes with house... in the end it gets messed up pretty bad. In the end that melody dissapeared, and the only thing that remains is a dreadful beat which should be as loud or shocking as possible. It's too bad for the great melodies.
- Hardcore; this is mean for the coke-heads in my opinion. I can't recall any track being close to music. Where Hardstyle has parts of dreadful, horrifying beat, hardcore track only consist of these 'beats'. It's the result of a crashing computer... yet that would even sound better.

Still I want to remind you that this is my opinion. I like what I call 'good music'. I know everyone has another taste of music, and that's why we collide in this topic ;p
